MacMillan Nurses provide invaluable support to the Cancer Treatment facilities at Wythenshawe Hospital. Due to the success of the service provided an extension was required to the patient counselling unit. The existing facility was in a land-locked situation and built on heavily built-up ground. This gave challenging access situations in very tight working spaces in an extremely sensitive area of the hospital. Great care was taken in the design process to ensure the extension reflected well on the existing construction and original suppliers were appointed to provide identical materials from the original building.
Due to the exceptionally sensitive nature of MacMillan’s services, emphasis was placed on creating the correct atmosphere for the of the building. A local artist was commissioned to assist in creating this feel and produced a bespoke piece of artwork.
